What to expect
Enquiry to invoice. Then the work.
Seven steps. No retainer. No discovery call that is actually a pitch. Where the work is clear, it is quoted. Engagement is billed weekly on time tracked, or as the quote sets out.
01
Enquiry
You send the brief. What is broken, expensive, or overdue — and which practice it sits in. I come back within one business day.
02
Assessment
I read it as work, not as a lead. If it is a fit, we continue. If it is not, I will say so rather than stretch a quote.
03
More information
If the brief is thin, I ask. Access, numbers, constraints, the thing you have already tried. I do not invent a scope to fill the silence.
04
Quote
Where the work is clear, you get a written quote. Hours at the foundational rate, or a fixed fee if the job can be bounded. No twelve-page proposal.
05
Acceptance
You accept in writing. Until then nothing is booked and nothing is billed. A quote is not an engagement.
06
Invoice
An invoice follows acceptance. ABN on it. No GST while I am not registered. Bank details on the PDF. Work starts once that is on the books.
07
Engagement
Then the work. Time-tracked jobs are billed weekly against hours logged. Quoted jobs are billed as the quote sets out. No retainers.
Billing
Weekly, or as quoted.
The quote says which. I do not mix them quietly. If the scope moves, we re-quote before extra hours start.
Weekly
Time tracked
Hours logged against the brief. Invoiced each week. You see the time before you pay for it. The foundational rate applies unless the quote says otherwise.
Fixed or capped
As quoted
A written number for a bounded job. Invoiced as the quote describes — up front, on milestones, or on delivery. If the scope moves, we re-quote before the extra hours start.
What this is not.
- Not a retainer you forget you are paying.
- Not a twelve-page proposal that exists to sell the next meeting.
- Not GST on the invoice while I am not registered.
- Not financial product advice, if the work is crypto.
Questions, answered plainly
Start with the brief.
If the work is real, the next step is an enquiry — not another call that is actually a sales call.
